About Us

Meavy View, is located near to the centre of Rochdale and is a family run business. It was established in 1989 (initially on the other side of the road). In 2000, the property on Milkstone Road was purchased, a purpose-built retirement home offering more facilities and more space. Within the Home we have our own hairdressing salon, four lounge areas, dining room and a large outdoor patio area with pergolas (complete with stunning Clematis which provides delight year on year).
Meavy View has developed a great reputation in its care provision. In the last inspection we were given a ‘good’ rating by the Care Quality Commission. More recently Environmental Health awarded the Home a ‘Five Star’ rating for its kitchen – something very few Homes are able to achieve. Whether their stay is temporary or permanent we aim to provide a safe, warm and friendly environment for those who are unable to cope on their own.

Our Team

Many of our staff have been with us since the Home first opened and we are careful to select people with a genuine caring nature.

All care staff within the Home are appropriately qualified to deliver the highest standards of care. A continuous staff-training programme is implemented to ensure that these high standards are maintained in line with the latest developments in Care Practices as may be laid down in appropriate Legislation, Regulations.

Staff are selected for their qualities of reliability, integrity, skill, friendliness and professionalism. They are carefully screened and references are always checked thoroughly. During induction all staff are trained in-house by experienced qualified senior staff and training includes the following critical subjects:

Care code of conduct
Confidentiality
The rights of Resident’s
Health and Safety
Food Hygiene and Safety
Personal Care Tasks
Care Assistants Responsibilities

The Home insists that all Care Assistants work towards a minimum of NVQ level 2 in Care. All new members of staff must train to achieve this important qualification. Currently more than 80% of our care staff have NVQ 2 or above in Care and 40% have NVQ 3 or above. We consider (NTO) National Training Organisation TOPSS guidance as a minimum standard for the induction and development of our staff and these include:

Safeguarding vulnerable adults
First aid
Health & safety
Medicines administration
Food Hygiene
Moving & handling
Fire training
Infection control
Incontinence,
Dementia
Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool (MUST)
Staff are trained to preserve and maintain the dignity, individuality and privacy of all Residents within a warm and caring atmosphere, and in so doing will be sensitive to the Residents’ ever changing needs. Staff undergo regular supervision to ensure they are able to meet these changing needs.

Care Principles

Carers will strive to preserve and maintain the dignity, individuality and privacy of all residents within a warm and caring atmosphere, and in so doing will be sensitive to the residents’ ever-changing needs. Such needs may be medical/therapeutic (for physical and mental welfare), cultural, psychological, spiritual, emotional and social, and residents are encouraged to participate in the development of their individualised Care Plans in which the involvement of family and friends may be appropriate and is greatly valued.
This will be achieved through programmes of activities designed to encourage mental alertness, self esteem, and social interaction with other Residents and with recognition of the following core values of care which are fundamental to the philosophy of our Home:
CORE VALUES OF CARE
PRIVACY
DIGNITY
RIGHTS
INDEPENDENCE
CHOICE
FULFILMENT

Reviews and Testimonials

"We would like to thank you all for the care you gave to mum over the years. Thank you also for the consideration you gave to me and my family over the last week. Nothing was too much trouble for you, we are so grateful to you all", Delia & Family.

The staff and room are lovely. Staff are approachable. I feel like I am looked after well when I am poorly

- DM

Staff are approachable and Carers are very good. I am happy with my room and the food is delicious

- DT

It’s no secret what Jessie and I thought of your Staff and the never ending care they took of Mary. We think that, but for the loving care and attention that your Staff bestowed in her, she would have passed away a long time ago. For that reason alone we are indebted to you and all the ‘Girls’ for all they have done. I hope the Home goes from strength to strength and should you want us to speak to any prospective resident for a favourable report, you only have to ask!

- Harold

I just wanted to tell you all, how much I appreciate the love and care you gave my mum over the past 11 years and the support you all gave me over the past six months. You are such special people!

- Diane

Fees

How are residents funded?
Depending on how much financial assets the prospective resident has, will depend on how much funding they are entitled to. Firstly, you will need to undergo a needs assessment by your Local Authority to determine the level of care that you need. This will tell you whether you need nursing care, or whether just residential care will be enough. You will also be assessed financially to determine any help you are entitled to. If you don’t want or need to apply for financial help, you can approach care homes directly and they will assess your needs and tell you whether they can cater for them.
Right to Choose

You will usually have the right to choose your care home, even if you are not paying the care fees yourself. However, the council will set an amount that they can pay for a resident with your needs and if you choose a care home above these fees, you’ll have to pay the difference yourself. Moving into a care home is a big step, and many choose to come in on a gradual basis. This can be done by coming in for a meal, for a day, or a short stay.
Although some people don’t actually start to consider their care home options until they reach old age, many others are starting to think about their possible future needs earlier on. This is both to help them plan financially and to ensure that they are able to stay in the type of care home they would like when they are older.
